We're proud to be joining The Swallows Head & Neck Cancer Charity at the International Head & Neck Cancer Conference this November, now in its 11th year 💙

📅 Tuesday 3rd – Wednesday 4th November 2026
📍 The Imperial Hotel, Blackpool

Many people treated for head and neck cancer experience swallowing difficulties during treatment, recovery and beyond. That's why this conference matters so much to us.

Why attend?
🔹 Patients, caregivers and clinicians share the stage, so lived experience shapes the conversation
🔹 Panel-led discussion rather than traditional lectures
🔹 A real focus on rehabilitation, survivorship and quality of life, not just treatment
🔹 An exhibition of products, services and innovations supporting people affected by head and neck cancer

Last year's event welcomed more than 300 delegates a day. We can't wait to be part of it again.

Audit readiness shouldn't begin the week before inspection ☝️

Yet for many organisations, it does. Suddenly there's a scramble to find documentation, gather evidence, and prove compliance.

This is reactive. And it reveals gaps that should never have existed.

Real governance is continuous. Documentation exists every day. Recipe validation is ongoing. Evidence is collected routinely. Traceability is built into how you work. Consistency is the default.

This requires infrastructure.

Using our Molila system, organisations build continuous governance through validated recipes, controlled changes, consistent documentation, and audit trails that prove compliance as business-as-usual.

When governance is continuous, inspection becomes confirmation - not crisis.

For NHS and regulated settings, this is how you demonstrate you're serious about safety, every single day.

The hidden cost of inconsistency 🤯 🤯

Most organisations think about safety in dysphagia catering.

Fewer think about the operational costs:
❌ Wasted food and repeated remakes
❌ Staff uncertainty
❌ Resident complaints
❌ Audit preparation chaos
❌ Inconsistent resident experiences

Dysphagia catering is both a safety issue AND an efficiency issue.

When processes aren't clear, meals get remade. When there's no validation system, auditors find gaps. When standards drift, residents suffer.

Using our Molila system, organisations address both safety and efficiency - validated recipes, clear workflows, reduced waste, consistency, and audit readiness.

Good dysphagia catering should work for residents, teams, and your operational bottom line.

What happens after the course? 💭

This is a question lots of decision-makers ask.

Training is brilliant - but then new starters arrive without that knowledge. Agency staff cover shifts. Recipes get updated. Menu changes happen. And consistency drifts.

Training is the beginning. Implementation is the ongoing challenge.

This is why OHK combines practical training with Molila - a structured system that sustains standards through validated recipes, clear documentation, and consistency that holds when staff changes, pressure increases, and new challenges emerge.

Because the real question isn't "did teams complete the course?" It's "are standards still holding 12 months later?"

Our implementation pathway is designed to answer yes.

A great day of practical dysphagia training at Blend Culinary Foundation in Sheffield earlier this month. 🙌

We welcomed attendees from Northfield Nursing Home and Westbourne House Nursing Home - PALMS ROW HEALTH CARE LIMITED, Roseberry Care Centres UK Ltd; Roseberry Care Centres GB Ltd; Roseberry Specialist Care Centres Ltd, Pingley Court Care Home and Porterbrook Care Home for our Practical Molila Course.

Throughout the day, learners got hands-on experience producing food across a range of IDDSI texture levels, with a focus on consistency, testing and understanding how different ingredients behave during preparation.

It’s this practical experience that helps turn knowledge into confidence - giving catering teams a structured approach they can take back into their own kitchens and apply day to day.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us.

👉 If you’d like to join us, our next Practical Molila Courses are coming up in Paisley on 8th-9th October, Penarth on 27th-29th October and Woking on 10th-11th November. Get in touch to find out more or book your place.

“Since completing the Molila training, I have successfully incorporated the knowledge and techniques into my daily practice. I now feel much more confident when preparing and modifying food to meet individual dietary requirements.

The training has improved my understanding of food textures and consistency levels, making it easier to modify meals safely and accurately while ensuring they remain appealing and nutritious. I have also become more aware of the importance of following the correct guidance to reduce the risk of choking and to support residents with swallowing difficulties.

Overall, the training has had a positive impact on my day-to-day work by increasing my confidence, improving the quality and consistency of food modification, and helping me provide safer, more person-centred care.”
